Memphis, TN: Shepherd Mix Heads to Shelter If No Help

Please crosspost. Hopefully, someone will be able to help this dog. She will go to the shelter in a few days, where she will more than likely be killed because she is not highly adoptable and the shelter is forced to make these tough decisions because of our city's overwhelming pet overpopulation.

She was found wandering around Chickasaw Gardens. She is about 3-4 years old, very sweet, and is blind and partially deaf. She has a collar, no tags or chip. She is temporarily at Walnut Grove Animal Hospital in Memphis, TN where she will be able to stay for a few days, thanks to their compassion.

Contact is Vera at # 901-335-8625

  1. I post this story to my profile on Facebook--then tried to call Vera today--she never returned my call. Blind Dog Alliance is one of the places I notified and they said that they had alerted rescues in the area--they also ascertained that the Dog is most likely an Akita mix. If you were to find out that she got rescued--I'd like to know.

  2. good news good news--called the Walnut Grove Animal Hospital and talked to Vera--the dog has gotten donations from far and wide--she's been to ophthalmologists and had lot of care--after she is spayed Monday next weekend she is going to a home in Fort Worth,TX (she will eventually go completely deaf ;( but is a very sweet dog)
