Alexandria, VA: 4 Cats Have Until Tuesday to Get Help!

Hello,

Sorry I've been busily out and about looking for places. It's been pretty exhausting. I've had no luck. I'm still trying to search. I was wondering if you knew of any rescues that may be able to help? I would be able to pay a fee, etc. I'm starting to worry because I haven't gotten any response.

I have tried contacting so many rescues. Currently I'm in a situation where I have lost my apartment, and I am living out of motels. I currently have 4 cats that I am looking for homes for them. Out of all, Charlie is the deaf one. I have no family or friends to help, and my absolute last resort would be taking them to a shelter where they would likely be euthanized because of kitten season. I have grown exhausted of looking for options and it has really taken a mental toll on me, and I was wondering if your organization could help or at least point me into the right direction of any rescues or organizations. I've tried other organizations, and a lot of the cat rescues around my area to no avail. Even if it's temporary shelter for them until I can get back on my feet. If there's any program you know of, or any organization that could help, I would be so grateful. Thank you for any help or advice you could assist me with. I am in the Northern Virginia area. I can be reached at craysoar@gmail.com

Amherst, VA: English Bulldog Mix Needs a Home

This is Alice, she’s a sweet, sweet dog but since she is deaf we are having trouble placing her –  since she can’t hear other dogs approaching her – it would be best for her to have a home without another dog and I’d feel better without small children also.  Alice would do well in both an active home or a laid back home, she just goes with the flow and has couch-potato qualities J

She’s one of the most affectionate dogs we have, very laid back and easy to care for.. a staff favorite. Transport help available.

He is in the Westmoreland County Shelter!! For those of you that don’t know the story, the dog is old and deaf, and the child startled him last week and he almost bit the child. But the dog is sweet. Deserves way better.

Southwest VA: Aussie Mix's Time is Running out

Meet Whiskey a 1 year old intact male, deaf, aussie brought to the shelter toms he is a chicken killer. He as you can see is very depressed and frightened at the shelter. As most of you know as an owner surrender he will be one of the first ones to be killed when space is needed at the shelter... this could be as early as tomorrow. The shelter reports no issues interacting with people or other dogs.

If you are interested in adopting Whiskey please email us at

Richmond, VA: Dogo Argentino Mix in High Kill Shelter

Above link, there's sponsorship you can donate $

**URGENT**

Casper is S
OLID white with one freckle on his ear. He is a sure head turner. He is also a big boy. I didn't get him on the scale yet but I think he is in the neighborhood of 80lbs. He is a young boy probably about a year old given that his teeth are as white as he is. He is friendly, doesn't really jump up on you, has some leash manners (he doesn't pull as bad as a dog that size could), and we suspect that he is good with other dogs given his calm nature around them inside the shelter (haven't tested him as he is a big boy but will closer to his release date). Why is Casper urgent? Casper's world is silent. He is deaf which I believe is not too uncommon in sold white dogs. If you are interested in adopting Casper please contact corbandcolb@yahoo.com He is located in Montgomery County Animal Shelter!

Fredericksburg, VA: Deaf and Blind Cat Needs Help!

Before you read about this deaf and blind cat, a deaf blind cat can lead a normal and wonderful life like any other cats. Here's the link with video that was posted here some time ago of a deaf blind cat with a hearing blind cat:

http://deafanimals.blogspot.com/2008/03/deaf-blind-cat-and-blind-cat-having_31.html

A neutered long-haired (matted) white male cat (name Tuffy) came into the Spotsylvania County Animal Control Shelter yesterday by his owner. He is deaf, blind and extremely matted. His control # is 1253. If there is anyone that can help get this guy out of jail, please contact the shelter directly.

Super friendly. I do not have any additional information other than the fact that he is not in the main cat room where visitors would see him. He is in the back in observation because he is matted, deaf and blind. The shelter does not consider that very adoptable qualities. Poor Tuffy does not stand a chance in this place where they have a hard time getting the cute, fluffy and perfect cats adopted. Someone needs to rescue him as we never know when his time will be up.
