Ava is adorable. She is a five month old mix who looks to be a combination of many breeds. She has webbed feet like a Lab, big ears like a Shepherd pup, and coloring like a Pitty. We may not be sure just what breeds she is but we do know that Ava is super lovable. She adores people and loves other dogs. She happens to be deaf but that isn't holding her back. This playful, friendly girl is ready to learn and will do beautifully with someone who is willing to teach her with hand signals and positive training techniques.

Unfortunately, after being at the SPCA in Georgetown, DE for a month, no responsible person has come forward to adopt her. So now we are hoping that there is a rescue out there that can foster her and make sure that she ends up in the right forever home. Or maybe an adopter with deaf dog experience who has room for Ava. If you can help Ava, please contact us. Or if you know of someone who might help her, please forward this email to them. Please help us find the right home for Ava.

Ava is spayed and up-to-date on her basic shots.

Georgetown, DE: Am Staff Mix Puppy in Shelter

Gracie is a sweet six-month-old white Am Staff mix puppy (DOB 10/4/09) who originally ended up at the SPCA in Georgetown, DE when she was a tiny pup. She came in with a torn ear and was obviously deaf. All white, with gorgeous light colored eyes and a brown nose, she is a cutie. Shortly after arriving, Gracie went into a foster home and was reportedly doing so well, her foster Mom decided to adopt her. Well now, after four months, Gracie is back at the shelter and it appears that she received no training in the interim. She is a very affectionate dog but still very much a puppy with all the behavior that comes with that. Deaf dogs can be trained but they don't learn by osmosis. Poor Gracie deserved a home where someone would take the time and effort to train her but it didn't work out that way. Now she desperately needs someone who is willing to work with her, ideally someone with deaf dog experience.
