Ridgely, MD: Cat in Need of a Home
Hi Everyone,
I'm just trying to put out a mass plea for a cat we have here named Squeakers. Poor Squeakers has been here almost a whole year! He is 12 going on 13 years old and is deaf! Squeakers was in one of our long runs for ever until room opened up at the Caroline County Detention Center where he's been for the last several months. He was not doing so great there and was starting to fight with the other cats in the room. It's a small room that they're kept in at the Center. So because Squeakers was not doing so well, he was brought back to the shelter where we put him back in his long run. Now he is in the run with other cats and has never had an issue here before he went to the detention center. We think he may just be starting to show signs of stress and because of this, we are desperately trying to get our boy out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Please let all your friends and rescue contacts know about Squeakers' plight. He is a wonderful boy who we want to get out of the shelter. I've enclosed pictures of our boy too for you all!

Baltimore, MD: Pit Bull Needs a Home or Rescue
There is $100 sponsorship offered by Vicki at vbweales@yahoo.com for rescue who takes her.
Name: Grace
DOB: 2/14/10
Age: 23 months
Disability: Deaf
Breed/Weight: White, Pit Bull Terrier, approx. 45 lbs
I have a deaf 15 month old white female Pit Bull terrier that I need to find a home for.
Grace is a very sweet and affectionate pup. She loves belly rubs and to be pet. She is highly energetic & loves to be walked. Grace loves interacting with people and has been socialized with many dogs and cats. With love, consistency, and regimen, Grace has come to understand several commands using basic sign language. Like any puppy, she may give you that look, - “What?! Really?” but always follows through. She enjoys looking out the windows to see what or who is passing by.
Because of her disability, it can be difficult to let her off the leash. She is looking for someone with patience and a lot of love to give back; and for a home with a lot of space to run her little heart out.

Fairplay, MD: It's Foster/Rescue or Euthansia for this Boxer
There is a 6 yo male white deaf boxer with aggression issues at our kennel that has been boarded with us for over 2 years that will be euthanized 1/7/11 at 130p. He has never BITTEN down on anyone, just GRABBED them, never drawn blood or moved past the mouthing stage; unfortunately he thinks this is how he lets people know when he does not like things. He does better with female humans, but can warm up to male humans too. He needs a home that can just let him be, with NO kids. He LOVES other dogs and is ok with cats. He was beaten in the head as a puppy b/c they thought he was stupid, so he is very touchy about being touched on his head or neck, he has never grabbed anything but hands that were near his head. This dog could live with someone that didn't want anything from him, although he can be affectionate, someone that could let him live his life in peace and have outside time with some pals. He knows hand signals, is very obedient and low energy. The rescue MIGHT consider a foster home that commits to him for his lifetime. Please contact Elaine at ehauck@comcast.net
Thanks!

Modine is the right dog for you if you want.
A dog that is easygoing, gentle, and a complete lovebug.... A dog that is crate trained, housebroken, and wonderful to walk on leash. A dog that is low energy and perfectly content with a slow stroll through the park. A dog that LOVES, LOVES, LOVES kids of all ages. A dog that is both mature enough to be gentle and calm when need be, but also young at heart for playtime. A dog that has the cutest, wrinkly, most lovable boxer squish face - a perfect family dog!
Modine is not the right dog for you if you want. A jogging partner. A puppy that destroys the house, jumps all over people, and is really high energy. Another project. So, what do you think? Is Modine the right dog for you??? Modine has been waiting since January for her forever home to come scoop her up. She has learned some signs and really deserves a place she can stay for the rest of her life. Modine is a doll!
Please visit her at Adopt a Boxer Rescue, and put in an application for Modine! Thank you!

Baltimore, MD: AMBull Mix Needs Adopter or Fosterer
I need some help, and time is of the essence. Last May, I adopted out Remiel, a deaf white AmBull/Pit Mix Pup to what I thought, was a wonderful family in Virginia. They have just separated and both work, they are Teachers. The wife took the dog with her and she moved into a rental property. The Landlord has told her she cannot remain there with the dog, he must go. She now feels she cannot take care of the dog that she works and is newly separated, Wow, hope she never has kids, teacher cannot multi task!! Well anyway, I need to take him back, but have no room right now, until I have an adoption. She refuses to wait and has threatened to take this wonderful boy to a shelter, where a deaf Bully will only have death waiting for him. I have helped lots of groups over the years and now I am looking for a foster, even if it is just for a couple of weeks. He is housebroken and knows basic commands, he is neutered, UTD on shots and micro-chipped, I have just relisted him on my Petfinder page. He is a beautiful boy, do not let the deaf part scare you, you would not know, he does follow basic commands and is very smart. I cannot afford to board him. Please forward this, maybe someone can help me. Call or email Mary at 443-983-0466 pittiesandpurrs@verizon.net or Shauna at brownshauna@bellsouth.netMary Sullivan of Pitties and Purrs

Baltimore, MD: Husky/Shep Mix Time'll Run Out
Our local shelter has a beautiful husky/shep mix. I have a hold on him until tomorrow am. However I can not take him as I already have 3 dogs. The dog is about 6-7 years old and deaf. He seemed very sweet, quiet, well behaved, liked other dogs at the shelter. I really wanted to try to find someone to take him that may be able to adopt him out to a family suitable for a deaf dog. Please let me know if you are able to help. Call Ellen on her cell phone: 410-977-9351

Deaf Cat in MD Seeks Temp Foster
Temporary foster needed for a deaf, neutered male 8 year-old cat whose owner has lost her home. She is willing to get him tested for FIV/FeLV and make sure he's up-to-date on all vaccinations, also to pay for food and vet care while he's in foster home. He is fine around other cats, never been tested with dogs or children. Owner's house burned down and she expects to be able to take her kitty back as soon as she finds a suitable living situation. If you might be able to help, please contact the woman's social worker Leslie Orzinski at this ph# 301-641-3016 (cat owner's name is Deborah) or PAW volunteer Ginnie Maurer at ginnie.maurer@juno.com. Thank you!
