Loudon, TN: Deaf Cat in Danger and Needs Help!

Below is what the shelter and another person have to say about this cat. Simba has until tomorrow to get out of danger. Please, if there is a cat savvy person who can work with him, do not hesitate to get in touch with the shelter.

Simba is an orange male Tabby, 4 years old and neutered.  The poor boy is deaf and needs a home where he feels safe. He is at a High Kill shelter in Loudon County, TN and scared to death. The staff can't deal with him because he is so frightened. Any help would be greatly appreciated to help this Special Needs kitty find a home.

April said he is so scared that he is growling and trying to bite them and scratch the staff. They are giving him the weekend to try and calm down. I feel that if he doesn't by Monday, they will be putting him down. She didn't say that, but we know the drill. He needs a foster or adoptive home to work with him to calm down. He does not get along with dogs AT ALL. Please send an email to either kimberly.goodson@yahoo.com or loudoncountyfoa@yahoo.com. Time is of essence!

Macon County, TN: Schnauzer Mix Seeks a Home

I received a call about a matted, skinny, stray dog, couldn't even tell if it was male or female the matts were
so bad. Since it was Christmas eve the caller did not call animal control, besides the shelter was probably
not the place for this dog, she seemed to be deaf. I was able to find a wonderful temporary foster who cut off all the matts and gave her a bath. She has since been to the vet, has been spayed, she's about 10 to 12 years
old, yes, she is deaf, had a very bad ear infection, has the beginning of cataracts, she's sweet old girl
looking for a home. She's a schnauzer mix, about 25 lbs, a benji looking type dog, she needs a fenced
yard because she does wander and can't hear you call her. Please contact me if you want to adopt her.
She's a very sweet girl. She is in Macon County, TN. Contact pets2x2ranch@yahoo.com if interested.

Memphis, TN: Shepherd Mix Heads to Shelter If No Help

Please crosspost. Hopefully, someone will be able to help this dog. She will go to the shelter in a few days, where she will more than likely be killed because she is not highly adoptable and the shelter is forced to make these tough decisions because of our city's overwhelming pet overpopulation.

She was found wandering around Chickasaw Gardens. She is about 3-4 years old, very sweet, and is blind and partially deaf. She has a collar, no tags or chip. She is temporarily at Walnut Grove Animal Hospital in Memphis, TN where she will be able to stay for a few days, thanks to their compassion.

Nashville, TN: Pit Bull Needs Another Placement

I am a volunteer for the MJ shelter and help several rescue groups but this one is special needs and would like her to get the help and special attention she needs. She is about 6-8 months old and has been picked up in the Nashville area about 4 months ago in the middle of the street. She is deaf, not sure if she is completely or just partial because she does seem to hear very loud bangs just not clapping of the hands or being called or the other dogs barking. She is a pure white pit with a pink nose and ears. There is currently 4 other dogs in the home and 2 are very dominant and keep beating her up and this is one of the reasons she needs to get out of the home quickly. The owner is an elderly man and his children and grandchildren seem to keep bringing animals home and he said then he is left responsible for their care, but this one he really wants to have her find a good home because of her special needs and he knows his home is not it. If there is anything anyone can do, please e-mail as soon as possible, I will transport her. She is a sweet dog and needs love and attention.

Maury County, TN: Pit Bull Needs Help

The young man who saved the dog said that he had seen the two dogs playing in a field that morning on his way to work. He said he thought why are those beautiful dogs running loose (boxer & bulldog). They should be in their yard. (He couldn't stop because he was on his way to work) On his way home from work he saw them on the side of the highway. (Highway 7 in Maury County) He thought they were both dead but he pulled off the highway to check. That's when he noticed the white bulldog had his head resting on the boxer's chest. He raised his head and began to whimper & cry. The young man picked him up and put him in his truck. He said he just had to help!!!

The dog is a young unaltered male. He is very friendly with other dogs and children. If you sit down beside him he will get in your lap and lie down. (Wants to be held like a baby) He is shy and cowers down if you raise your hands...(Like he's been hit).

The man already has two dogs of his own and can't take in another one. If you can help, please let me know by sending me an email at srine@maurycounty-tn.gov.

Johnston City, TN: Aussie/Husky Mix Pups

Bones and Beck

Beck

Bones

9 week old Aussie/Husky mix pups. Completely deaf and visually deficient. They can see well enough to get along if the lights are on. They have mastered the environment in their foster home with no problem. They do well with other dogs and love to play just like any other puppy. They would need specialized training and guidance -- either a deaf/vi rescue or a qualified home. They would do well as a companion to another tolerant dog or pup. If interested in these babies, contact mjwebbcity@aol.com

Waverly,TN: Am Bull/Pit Girl Needs Rescue

On my way home from work last week I noticed some people on the road side giving away puppies. I actualy had room for them, so I took the pups and offered to split the cost of the mom's spay. Now their landlord/father in law says she can't stay and must go soon or her will take her to the local animal shelter.

Please cross post far and wide!!

Contact is laura_ahonen37185@yahoo.com

Here is a note from the owner:

She is a great dog. She can be a little protective of people. She is very smart and really loving. She is house broken and leash trained. She does well in the bath and is okay with children. She knows about three sign language commands that my husband taught her.. He taught her to sit, to hug, and to shake. It is really sweet. She loves to be outside on a zip line and to sleep inside in the bathroom by the potty or a cool corner. She sometime likes to play with other dogs but can be a little over protective. She knows how to open certain things like drawers and cabinets and is very curious. She has been a good dog but she came to us about three months ago and she was sick and dirty and heavily pregnant. She had a hard time learning to ride in a car but does well now. She had one round of dewormer and is ready soon for another round. I am not sure about her shots and she needs to be fixed.

East Tennessee: Australian Shepherd Needs a Place

Please help.. spread far and wide. Bandit is an 8 year old Australian Shepherd whose family set him out because he is now deaf. They shaved him because of fleas instead of treating him?? He is a great guy, is neutered, loves people, esp kids and gets along with other dogs.

Bandit's skin issues have been treated and thanks to Beth (she is amazing). He is very sweet, housetrained and loves kids.

THAT HOLD MIGHT BE A KIND VOLUNTEER WHO IS JUST TRYING TO SAVE THE ANIMAL UNTIL A RESCUE CAN STEP UP FOR IT. ANIMALS HAVE DIED BECAUSE THE SHELTER WAS UNAWARE THAT THERE WAS INTEREST FROM A RESCUE. Deaf Setter in TN Last Day Tomorrow

1 year old neutered and fully vetted English Setter mix. His name is Tucker and he is microchipped. Seems very smart. Owner returned him to the shelter as soon as they found out he was deaf. They had an awful little 4 year old boy who was running all over the shelter terrorizing all of the animals. I am sure that had some affect on Tucker.

Thanks!

Nashville, TN: Greyhound Needs a Home

Stone

Stone is described as white, but he's not albino - he even has some freckles on his ears. He tested cat-safe in Memphis. He's a very social greyhound, but also seems to understand "social boundaries". Stone interacts very well with other greyhounds, and would do well with a greyhound buddy. He's a very sweet boy!
