Marietta, GA: A Deaf Cat Needs a Home

Hello! My name is Lucca. I am an approximately 3 years old neutered male. As you can see, my eyes have different colors and that makes me even more special! I am deaf but it does not slow me down one bit! I like to play with toys as well as play hide and seek. If you have any paper bags from your shopping trips, I would LOVE to play in them! Sometimes I find a good hiding spot. I am a good boy and will always come out when I want to snuggle. And boy, do I love to snuggle! I am a little love bug. I get along with other cats in the foster home and even snuggle with them. I loooove to eat...  I am a quiet cat and would do best in a house with no young children, dogs, or cats who might sneak up and tackle me. Older, calm cats and dogs are A-OK. Please consider adding me to your family. Contact my foster mom, Sheli, if you are interested or contact the Cat Rangers Rescue that Sheli fosters for at www.catrangers.org

Love, Lucca

Frenchtown, NJ: Dalmatian Mix Pup Needs a Home

OMG LOOK AT THIS FACE. CARLY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME! PLEASE CROSSPOST FOR HER!

Hi Everyone - please cross post for me. Nobody is interested in Carly and I need your help. Carly is the sweetest most lovable little girl that I have ever had. I think I let her down by labeling her a dalmation mix. She acts nothing like a dalmation. On top of that, she is deaf. At first you won't know it because she does everything right. She just doesn't respond to her name. She is housebroken and crate trained. I am teaching her hand signs. She is playful and gets along with all dogs. She is even good with cats. She loves everybody she meets. She is not skittish at all. It appears that she was born deaf so nothing startles her even when woken up from sleeping. She loves to sit with you on the couch or take a walk. She is low energy. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.

Auburn, AL: German Wirehaired Pointer Needs a Loving Home

Please contact Stephanie if you can help:  334-559-0558 or by email at autigrrl@gmail.com.

A friend of mine’s wife works at the vet school at Auburn University (in Alabama) and this dog was brought in a short time ago. She had been shot.  As a result, she is now blind in her right eye and recovering the sight in her left eye. She is a female German wirehaired pointer (purebred, but without papers) that is around a year old. She has not been spayed.  My friend and his wife have been keeping her at their house for a little while and are willing to keep her for another week or so, but they can’t provide a permanent home for her.

The couple has twins who are toddlers and their resident dog pushes this dog around a bit.  She is very sweet, not even remotely aggressive and has been good with the children pulling and poking at her for the last week!  She was pretty skittish at first, which is not surprising for a dog that has been shot, but she has started to come out of her shell a lot within the last few days. The doctors who have seen her have recommended not removing the right eye at this time and said it may not be necessary at all. It is not protruding or anything; it just appears cloudy. They have also said it may be best to wait a little while before having her spayed because of the trauma she has been through recently.

I am hoping to find a home for this sweet girl. If a loving forever home can’t be found, the couple would be willing to let the dog go to a rescue, but they really feel that it would be best for her to be in a quiet and stable environment (not in a kennel situation) in order to recover comfortably.  If anyone is interested in helping this dog, they can contact me at 334-559-0558 or by email at autigrrl@gmail.com.  I would be willing to help with a transport.

Thank you!
Stephanie

Ossipee, NH: Sweet Home Sweet for This Cat

Those who are interested, you can send an email to info@lrhs.net.

Hi everyone. Please meet Harley. He is approximately 5-6 years of age, and deaf. That doesn't stop him from being a normal cat, and using all of his other senses. Harley has been at the Lakes Region Humane Society in Ossipee, NH 03864 for over 5 months now. He stays in our vet tech room alone because he does not like other cats. Understandable since he probably was not socialized properly with other cats. We are looking for a forever home for Harley. Please link up to the Lakes Region Humane Society facebook page (which I help run), and lets see if we can spread the word all over that this fun loving, adorable, playful, handsome guy is looking for a forever home. Harley was abandoned at our facility, and all we were told was "his former owners outgrew him". (*How do you outgrow a living, breathing, animal?) Makes no sense. Help spread the word and visit our page, or go to our webpage at www.lrhs.net. We are a NO KILL SHELTER, which means Harley will stay with us until we find that perfect home. Help us find a home for him. Thank you all.

GASTONIA, NC: Pit Bull Pup Scooped up and Needs a Home

Please contact Nicole at mom4twogirls0511@yahoo.com

This is Dolly, We were coming home from school and saw her cowering on the side of the road, so I parked my car and jumped out and ran across the street and scooped her up. We went straight to the vet to see if she was microchipped but no luck. I had them check her for worms which she has whips and give her shots. They said she is about 10-12 weeks and She is def a pit mix but not sure what she is mixed with. She is as sweet as she can be and as cute as ever. I have 3 dogs and 3 kids and having a 4th dog is alot for me. Can you please crosspost her so I can find her a wonderful forever home. She is a very well behaved girl and loves everyone!

The Keys, Florida: German Shepherd Needs a Home

FOR ALL QUESTIONS & INQUIRES PLEASE CONTACT LEE AT lmorrison@theflyer.com OR 305 479 9274

Bruno gets along with female dogs, but probably not good to live with males. Even though he lost his hearing, he still is a great watchdog: he feels movement and hears some sound via bones in his ears. (Just try opening the refrigerator if he’s awake!).
He is nine years old and as sweet & loveable as ever.

EMAIL UPDATE RECEIVED 1/27/12: A MONTH AGO WE RECEIVED THE SAD NEWS THAT BRUNO WAS LOSING HIS FOREVER HOME....AGAIN.

THERE WAS A SENIOR GENTLEMAN WHO STEPPED UP TO ADOPT BRUNO. HE LOVES BRUNO BUT HE IS TOO FRAIL TO WALK HIM AND HE REALLY NEEDS A SMALLER DOG WHO CAN TAKE WALKS WITH HIM. IT JUST WASN'T A MATCH AND BRUNO CAN'T STAY THERE ANYMORE. PLEASE KEEP POSTING FOR BRUNO, WE NEED TO MOVE HIM RIGHT AWAY. HE IS A WONDERFUL DOG , JUST TOO MUCH DOG FOR AN 81 YO MAN.

12-12-11: FOUR DAYS ONLY AND COUNTING! MUST BE OUT BY THIS WEEKEND!

Poor Bruno has had such a hard life. He was rescued from death row in Miami Dade Animal Services 6 years ago and adopted to a family who checked out perfectly in every way imaginable. We were so excited he’d found his forever home. Instead they starved and neglected Bruno so horribly that he was skin & bones, bleeding from head to foot (he had to be shaved naked to treat his skin wounds) with ear infections so severe his ear canals had to be surgically removed or he’d die from the infection reaching his brain. Bruno thankfully lived, recovered beautifully, but because of their abuse is deaf as a result.

Bruno stayed with his original rescuer for two years more living in her tiny bathroom or/outside because that is all she could provide. He finally found what we again thought was his forever home three years ago with a semi-retired couple who adored him. We were absolutely shocked when they called a month ago to tell us they made the decision to sell their house and were moving in 2-4 months and couldn't take Bruno with them.

Last night they informed us Bruno must be out this weekend! We are sick for poor Bruno and have nowhere for him to go. He is nine years old and as sweet & loveable as ever. He follows his human everywhere – not realizing his loyalty is sadly NOT returned. Bruno gets along with female dogs, but probably not good to live with males. Even though he lost his hearing , he still is a great watchdog: he feels movement and hears some sound via bones in his ears. (Just try opening the refrigerator if he’s awake!) We just can't wrap our heads around the fact that this couple who committed to this beautiful boy and sent nothing but wonderful updates for the past three years, can just put him out to pasture. Where do they think he will go? Their parting words to us about Bruno: " thanks for letting us be part of Bruno's life. Wish things were different and we could keep him".

It doesn't have to be this way. Please don't let Bruno's life end at 9 years old, after so few years of happiness, in a kill shelter. He needs to go to a stable, responsible , committed home where he will spend his golden years with a loving REAL forever family. Call and or email LeeAnn 305 479 9274 OR lmorrison@theflyer.com

Chicago, IL: American Bulldog Seeks a Home

Dear Friends of Petraits,

Dylan (Petraits attached) is an extremely handsome, playful, fun, and energetic, two-year-old, 65-pound, male, deaf American Bulldog looking for a loving guardian.

Dylan is a smart boy with a great personality who pays close attention to his human companions and has learned sign language. He knows the commands sit, come, down, and will automatically sit if he see you have a treat for him. He really forms a strong bond with his people. He is also full of energy like a playful and fun two-year-old puppy.

Dylan is looking for a loving human to take him under their wing to continue his training and boost his confidence. He loves people and is full of kisses and tail wags. He also loves to hang out in a dog bed to play with his toys and chew his bones. Even though he can’t hear a squeaky toy, he still loves the vibrations they make in his mouth.

Dylan loves to play rough and tumble with other dogs his own size. Being deaf, he can’t hear other dogs’ warning growls, so he’s best with an equally playful companion. He may eventually be fine with dog-loving cats. He is great in the car, good on walks, and can easily run a couple miles with a human running buddy.

Dylan is healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. To meet and possibly foster or adopt Dylan, please contact info@secondhandsnoots.org for an adoption application. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Secondhand Snoots.

Los Angeles, CA: A Home Needed for a Boxer

Charlie is a 2 years old who spends way to much time by herself. We have had her for about 1 1/2 years, but would like to find her a new home where someone will be home with her.  She is very smart, loveable, playful, good with other dogs and kids.  However, when left alone she gets herself into trouble.  I've atached a picture of Charlie. Please let me know if you can help. We live in the Los Angeles area. West Hills specifically.  Thank you.

Los Angeles, CA: Poodle Mix Needs a Home

Before Grooming
After Grooming

Deaf Senior needs a home. Last Thursday I was driving in Watts when a dog ran across a busy intersection and was nearly struck by 4 cars. I immediately pulled over and ran to him. Normally when I chase after strays, they run. When I approached this dog, he immediately surrendered and looked at me with desperation. With a hodgepodge leash I was able to get him to my car. He jumped in immediately and collapsed on the front seat. He was panicked, scared and dehydrated. This poor dog was in bad shape. His hair was so matted that he had trouble walking. I got him water and to a groomer right away. I needed to know what I was dealing with so we shaved him completely. Turns out "Willy" is a neutered male. He is a poodle mix. He was not wearing a collar and is not microchipped. He is approximately 12 years old and completely DEAF. He was checked by my vet today and amazingly does not appear to have any medical issues (he does have cataract). He is missing quite a few teeth. After a couple days of food, water, sleep and lots of belly rubs, his true personality is emerging. He is a gentle sweetheart who is so appreciative of being saved. He gets along with all dogs, is house trained, enjoys walks and loves to take naps. He was definitely loved at some point in his life but for whatever reason ended up homeless and alone in a really bad part o town. Please help me find him a forever home. He deserves to live out his senior years peacefully.

Please forward to any rescue organizations you know who work with seniors with handicaps. I would prefer to work through a rescue organization that has the resources to fully vet a potential new owner. Thank you! The best way to reach me is by email: meghantreese@gmail.com

Chicago, IL: Shar Pei Needs a Home

 Dear Friends of Petraits,

Buddy (Petraits attached) is a very sweet, gentle and shy, ten-year-old, 45-pound, male, Shar Pei looking for a loving home.

Buddy was at Chicago Animal Care and Control huddled and afraid in the back of his cage when We Luv Paws Chinese Shar Pei came to his rescue.

Buddy was covered with old bite wounds. But he is a live and let live kind of guy, a gentle soul who gets along just fine with other dogs. He doesn’t appear to know formal commands, but takes treats gently from your fingers.

Buddy is perfectly housebroken, crate-trained, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. He is deaf due to un-treated ear infections throughout his life. He’s had a recent dental and has very few teeth left.

Buddy’s adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescued dogs of We Luv Paws. To meet and possibly adopt Buddy, please contact his foster mom Debbie at kruegerd55@gmail.com or 847-362-3056. Because he’s shy and deaf and easily startled, he’s best in a home with adults.

Watertown, CT: Cat Needs a Loving Home

Meet Andromeda, a 7 year old deaf kitty with one blue eye, and one green eye. Unlike most deaf kitties, who are only deaf on the sides with the blue eye, Andromeda is fully deaf. You can run a vacuum right next to her and she won't even twitch. Andromeda lived in one home for 7 years until her owners decided they could no longer take care of her, and had to bring her to a shelter. Through the work of a wonderful woman, Andromeda was saved from being euthanized, and placed in a foster home ready for adoption. Several months later, Andromeda was adopted and taken to a new home. This is where the unfortunately situation of finding her a new home comes in.

While Andromeda is incredibly snuggly and cuddly to humans, she does not like other cats. After being introduced to one very small kitty, Andromeda pounced. For the last 6 months, she has lived in medium sized rooms with a set of baby gates stacked up so she can see out, but not get to the other kitty. She has been on herbal remedies as well as medication prescribed by the vet, and yet her distrust of other cats remains.

This sweet girl is incredibly friendly and loves to snuggle. She walks freely up to new people she's never met before and looks for a scratch behind her ear. She purrs loudly, and likes to chat, and although she's deaf so can't hear your responses, she does respond well to hand gestures. She LOVES to play. She has a few stuffed mice she plays with, she plays with a mat that has catnip in it, and goes completely crazy for straws and the laser pointer. She'll follow the little light for hours before curling up against her human for a nap.

If you're looking for a new pet, a snuggly, affectionate, playful pet, please consider adopting Andromeda. She will not disappoint you. Vet references ARE required before you can adopt, and you must be aware that she will not be given to a home that has cats, or to people who plan to get more cats. She has had enough trauma in her life an now just needs to find her forever family. We are located in Connecticut, so if you are within driving distance, and are interested, please contact me here.

Sacramento, CA: Siberian Husky Needs a Home

I have a 10 month old Red & White Siberian Husky. I am not able to keep him because I am a F/T student. Azlahn does well w/larger dogs. He does NOT DO WELL w/cats and/or smaller breed dogs at all. This may because of the hunting instincts & the breed. He needs to have a fenced yard, preferably newer wood due to his escape artist techniques. He's very loving, & loves kids & would love to have a play buddy (dog) that can handle rough play. Although Azlahn loves children, you will have to supervise him around children because he will knock down the smaller children to give kisses. I rescued Azlahn from the pound, but there's more to his story. Azlahn will only go to a very loving home, & someone who knows about the Siberian Husky breed. I would like someone who is hearing (or deaf is definitely okay) and is fluent in sign language because Azlahn has partial hearing in his left ear and deaf in his right ear. He can hear if you raise your voice. I have been teaching him sign language. (hand signals) Below are pictures of Azlahn. If you have any questions or would like to know more about Azlahn's story, please email me. ONLY SERIOUS PEOPLE NEED TO APPLY. Azlahn will not just go to any one. He is very special, & before I & Azlahn choose his person or family they have to be special too. Because he is pure breed, already fixed/altered, microchipped, has tested negative for heart worm, had bordetella and rabies shots, he is very healthy. I'm asking for a $150 re-homing fee.

I am helping my friend. If you are interested in Azlahn, please send an email to Kristeena at kthaten@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you soon - we would appericate your help!!

Thanks, Kristeena

Irving, TX: Outdoor Cat Needs a Home

Mr. White - who when the cat first showed up in my neighborhood I named Snow White thinking it was a female. Very people friendly, I was able to pick up and pet. Was busy for a few days and then when I took Mr. White to the vet to get fixed I realized he was a male, hence dropping the Snow part of his name. I have a colony of 12 use-to-be ferals (a few still kinda keep their distance) all fixed and we have a lovely community till Mr. White came along. He doesn't geehaw well with the others. He has also taken to harrassing the cat across the street too, all in a bid for food, which there is plenty of for all .
I found out from my neighbor across the street that Mr. White is stone deaf, he does NOT have blue eyes, hence maybe some of his acting out. I use the Animal Wellness collection of flower essences on all my cats - him included to keep behavior calm and peaceful among the pack. Tho Mr. White is not to hep on taking the drops from me. I feel like he used to be an indoor cat and is very used to and friendly with people, and someone dumped him in the neighborhood. I would love to see him go to someone who wants a single white beautiful cat in their home or out on a farm where he can roam freely and not feel he is in competition with other cats for food. As I said earlier he is fixed and had a rabies shot and flee treatment - the basics that the Feral Friends vets do. Have no idea how old he is - maybe around 3 or 4 years old.

work email - echeckley@hitechelectric.com
cell # 214-802-1134
THANKS - Elaine ~ Irving, Texas
PS - I would be willing to meet someone part way with him to transport him say within a 100 mile radius of the Dallas area, which would have to be on a weekend.

Brooksville, FL: Cat Needs a Home

This beautiful blue eyed girl was turned into a high kill shelter by her owner because she is deaf!!! Clair has been with us nearly a year! She is a bit wary of other cats but does not fight. Clair likes nothing better than to lay her head in your hand to be massaged. Clair is a very friendly girl. As you can see she likes her food. Please give this blue eyed sweety the forever home she deserves. Judging by her reaction to her foster brothers & sisters Clair was likely an only child and would likely want things to stay that way. She may be ok with dogs but we don't know. This pretty girl needs a home!! If you havee questions about Clair or is interested in adopting her, contact Linda at tropicalfelinerescue@earthlink.net

New Orleans, LA: Cat and Sister Need a Home Together

Piper
Marina

Piper and Marina are 7-8 years old and in perfect health. they are spayed and felv/fiv negative. Their shots are not current but they have not been exposed to any new animals. Both of them are allergic to the felv vaccine and have to be pre-medicated with benadryl and then they do fine. They basically have the same personality. They seek out attention when they want it, otherwise they are pretty independant and like to do their own thing. Piper is deaf and loves to chase a laser light toy and watch car lights out the window at night. They love each other very much (except during travel when they tend to bicker). They will sleep together and groom each other. They are used to other cats as well as calm dogs and occasionally children. I have never had any problems with these two cats and I love them very much but current circumstances are forcing me to find them new loving homes. Contact me at tma422@yahoo.com

Baltimore, MD: AMBull Mix Needs Adopter or Fosterer

I need some help, and time is of the essence. Last May, I adopted out Remiel, a deaf white AmBull/Pit Mix Pup to what I thought, was a wonderful family in Virginia. They have just separated and both work, they are Teachers. The wife took the dog with her and she moved into a rental property. The Landlord has told her she cannot remain there with the dog, he must go. She now feels she cannot take care of the dog that she works and is newly separated, Wow, hope she never has kids, teacher cannot multi task!! Well anyway, I need to take him back, but have no room right now, until I have an adoption. She refuses to wait and has threatened to take this wonderful boy to a shelter, where a deaf Bully will only have death waiting for him. I have helped lots of groups over the years and now I am looking for a foster, even if it is just for a couple of weeks. He is housebroken and knows basic commands, he is neutered, UTD on shots and micro-chipped, I have just relisted him on my Petfinder page. He is a beautiful boy, do not let the deaf part scare you, you would not know, he does follow basic commands and is very smart. I cannot afford to board him. Please forward this, maybe someone can help me. Call or email Mary at 443-983-0466 pittiesandpurrs@verizon.net or Shauna at brownshauna@bellsouth.net
