The owner passed away unexpectedly at the age of 37 in the past two weeks. They are now with the aunt, who is trying to get help to find them another home. Please help! Sweetie is 10 years old (deaf, declawed) and Tiger is 5 years old (hearing, declawed). They have been together two years and are pretty close. It would be best for them to be adopted together. The aunt's name is Carolyn and she can be reached at 704-435-8127 or her cell ph# at 980-522-0875 if you can adopt or rescue. If you cannot help please help us to contact someone who maybe can. Thank you.

Greensboro, NC: Boxer Needs a Home
SPCA of the Triad in Greensboro has her. She was adopted from the Rockingham shelter and returned because she was deaf. Then the ASPCA took her in but their facility is full and they are hoping to have someone take her who can work with her and teach her hang signals.

Lincolnton, NC: Boxer and His Mate in Kill Shelter
Male: white w/brown over one eye and deaf, weighs 71 lbs. 5 yrs old
Attached are their pictures. They are both very sweet and friendly. The male seems to be calmer than the female. They were both turned in due to moving. The female’s name is Chiquita but the male was turned in without one. They did come in together. Looks like the female has had a few litters.
Female: brown w/black muzzle, weighs 51 lbs. 3 yrs old

GASTONIA, NC: Pit Bull Pup Scooped up and Needs a Home
Please contact Nicole at mom4twogirls0511@yahoo.com
This is Dolly, We were coming home from school and saw her cowering on the side of the road, so I parked my car and jumped out and ran across the street and scooped her up. We went straight to the vet to see if she was microchipped but no luck. I had them check her for worms which she has whips and give her shots. They said she is about 10-12 weeks and She is def a pit mix but not sure what she is mixed with. She is as sweet as she can be and as cute as ever. I have 3 dogs and 3 kids and having a 4th dog is alot for me. Can you please crosspost her so I can find her a wonderful forever home. She is a very well behaved girl and loves everyone!

McGrady and His Irish Blessing
McGrady truly has the "Luck O' the Irish"! He is an Australian Shepherd and is located in NC. McGrady, who I pulled 3/6/2010 from Ashe County (NC) Animal Control, intending to foster him for rescue until he was adopted. They were only obligated to keep strays around 1 week before euthanizing them. However, despite thinking he might be deaf and because they liked him so much, they gave McGrady 35 days of life. Just in time for me to see him on petfinder. He is, indeed, deaf but also one of the smartest dogs I've ever met. I had NO idea about all the crazy beliefs there were out there about deaf dogs (ie, that they're "time bombs") until deciding to keep McGrady and starting to read about how best to train him. Almost weekly, strangers will say, "oh poor baby" when learning he's deaf; however, when we demonstrate all the commands he knows, they walk away saying, "WOW! How smart!"
I started the FB page for McGrady, or "McG" as we call him, to simply demonstrate how "normal," fun, smart and easy-to-live with deaf dogs are! Also, to help fight those unwarranted beliefs and to show that you don't have to have any special credentials (besides love and patience, just like with any other dog) to own a deaf dog.

This Sunday is the first anniversary of his Gotcha Day, as my friends who have adopted kids say. Thank you for your consideration and what you're doing for deaf animals!!!

Marshall, NC: Boxer Needs a Home
Her name is Izzabella, or Izzy for short. She's approximately 4 years old, spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccines, HW negative. She is deaf, was trained to hand signals and crate trained when I fostered her. How much of that was retained in the new home I'm not sure. She is being returned due to "issues". She needs to be in a
one dog only home or in a foster home that has time and energy to spend with her. She did well for me here with my Dane/Boxer mix and my Bullmastiff but it took a few weeks of them working out their differences and learning their place on the totum pole. I currently have too many shelter fosters to take her back in. She LOVES people and kids and was wonderful with my 4 small children. She's a smart girl and like any boxer will get into trouble if she's bored. Exercise, attention, and a person willing to teach her and learn from her is what's going to be key to finding her the perfect home.
The boxer rescue that she is with now has begged and begged for a one dog only home to foster to but to no avail. No one wants to see her crated a majority of the time as it's only going to make her slide downhill. Can anyone help?

Washington, NC: Boxer in Gassing Shelter
Anyone who can help this dog, email Crystal at boxerluver4ever@gmail.com and she will get you in touch with the shelter.Deaf female boxer in GASSING will be killed MONDAY
Well, bad news!!! & just like we thought unfortunately! Ghost was brought back to the GASSING shelter!!! (24 hrs later!) Not her fault AGAIN!!Here's what IBCR's Mary & Denyce had to say: "Ghost is back at the shelter. Nothing she did...the woman who adopted claims her husband did not want her and her Boston Terrier did not like her. Hope we can get Ghost out of there. The place/shelter is on overload and Monday 1/31 looks like it will be a really bad day for all."Here's what's known:
SallieFemale, spayed
4 years old, deaf,
Housetrained / Crate trained
Good with other dogs
Good with older children -
Playful and friendly
May be a little 'mouthy' when playing but never bit/nipped
Responds to simple hand motions but not actually 'trained to hand
signals'The most recent owner only had her for about a year, never took her to a vet. Gave his own "7in1" vaccinations from Tractor Supply. Rabies is out of date. Reason for surrender - he is currentlyworking 14 hr days and no one else at home to care for the dogs. Also turned in a hound/shepherd mix, 3 yrs old, female.

Onslow County, NC: In Danger of Euthansia

Louria is the contact person. Email her please, not me. Her email address is: Coca@embarqmail.com.
This dog was owned by a fighter who decided not to fight him when he found out he is deaf. Two other people heard about it and picked up the dog so the fighter wouldn't kill him. Now those two people broke up and the landlord will not let the pup stay.
He is young maybe under a year. Loves other dogs. Timid w/ people at first but warms up. He is going to the pound to be killed in a couple days if no one can take him. Please share and send to deaf dog rescues ASAP !! He's in Onslow county NC.
