Montville, CT: Senior Mutt Needs Help

To contact Martel, call 860-848-3529

http://montville-ct.patch.com/articles/emma-weeble-josie-and-others-need-homes#photo-8947087

Josie deserves a home. Josie is old, mostly deaf, nearly blind, arthritic and she has a skin condition. She is also just about the sweetest dog you'd ever want to know. She needs a home with people who will adore her and be kind to her, and in return, she will give you all the love in her heart. Josie is nearly blind, and pretty deaf. She is arthritic. She has bald spots. And she is one of the dearest dogs you'd ever want to meet. Martel found her stuck in a briar patch on Raymond Hill Road, where she'd been crying
out for hours.

When Josie got to the shelter, Martel says, all she did was eat and sleep, for days. Now she is a little more active, but still, she is quiet and calm. "She loves her bed," Martel says. And she might not be as old as she appears. Her teeth looks like the teeth of a dog much younger than Josie appears to be. But there's no telling.

Jolie needs a home where she can live out her day with people who will care for her, be patient with her, and give her all the needs. In return, this dear old blind dog will give you a heart full of love.

New Haven, CT: Pit Bull Mix Seeks a Home

One-year-old Banks was left in the local dog park. He played with the other dogs in the snow as he awaited our arrival to pick him up.The concerned citizen pointed him out in the park but he was hard to spot because he blended in with the snow banks, hence his new name. Banks is DEAF but responds well to face recognition and some hand signals. He would love a home where he will receive extra training for his disability. He is very sweet and cuddly but does play like a wild man at times and it is hard to get his attention in order to have him chill out.

Watertown, CT: Cat Needs a Loving Home

Meet Andromeda, a 7 year old deaf kitty with one blue eye, and one green eye. Unlike most deaf kitties, who are only deaf on the sides with the blue eye, Andromeda is fully deaf. You can run a vacuum right next to her and she won't even twitch. Andromeda lived in one home for 7 years until her owners decided they could no longer take care of her, and had to bring her to a shelter. Through the work of a wonderful woman, Andromeda was saved from being euthanized, and placed in a foster home ready for adoption. Several months later, Andromeda was adopted and taken to a new home. This is where the unfortunately situation of finding her a new home comes in.

While Andromeda is incredibly snuggly and cuddly to humans, she does not like other cats. After being introduced to one very small kitty, Andromeda pounced. For the last 6 months, she has lived in medium sized rooms with a set of baby gates stacked up so she can see out, but not get to the other kitty. She has been on herbal remedies as well as medication prescribed by the vet, and yet her distrust of other cats remains.

This sweet girl is incredibly friendly and loves to snuggle. She walks freely up to new people she's never met before and looks for a scratch behind her ear. She purrs loudly, and likes to chat, and although she's deaf so can't hear your responses, she does respond well to hand gestures. She LOVES to play. She has a few stuffed mice she plays with, she plays with a mat that has catnip in it, and goes completely crazy for straws and the laser pointer. She'll follow the little light for hours before curling up against her human for a nap.

If you're looking for a new pet, a snuggly, affectionate, playful pet, please consider adopting Andromeda. She will not disappoint you. Vet references ARE required before you can adopt, and you must be aware that she will not be given to a home that has cats, or to people who plan to get more cats. She has had enough trauma in her life an now just needs to find her forever family. We are located in Connecticut, so if you are within driving distance, and are interested, please contact me here.

New Haven, CT: Pit Bull Needs a Home/Foster or Rescue

Hi everyone. I'm reaching out for a little help here. The New Haven Animal Shelter is pretty full. We have a few dogs that have been at the shelter for a while. I need to get them out of the shelter to a safer , less stressful place.

This dog is very special, he is deaf. His name is Joba and he was found as a stray. He had a responsible owner at some point because he is already neutered. Joba is very handsome and friendly. Joba makes good eye contact , knows his sit command, takes treats gently. Joba likes to go for walks and is a happy guy.

He is about 2 years young and very cute. You can't help but to love him ! If you can't help by taking Joba , please help by crossposting.

Contact Delette Corwel from Friends of the New Haven Animal Shelter for more information. E-mail is poomeister@hotmail.com or phone at 203-464-2457.

Thank you for your help and consideration,
Delette
