Stolen and Abused Pup is Back with the Family

Harmony, was found after being stolen for several weeks. Harmony's mom adopted her to surprise daddy for Christmas. During her short time missing, there was reports of abuse. She is lucky to be ok and reunited with her family, who have not given up on her from the beginning. Harmony is a family member just like Thomasson's human kids.

A video of Harmony after he was found and reunited with the Thomasson's family:

Jacksonville, FL: Pit Bull Lost Since 11/26/10. Help!

It has been a week now that Petey, a deaf pit bull, has been missing. He was adopted from the Animal Control last summer when his time was up. Please crosspost far and wide non stop until Petey is found safely. For information about Petey, check the link on craiglist:

I made my great escape last Friday (Nov 26) at around 3pm. I think it's around this time I made my great escape because a former human roommate left in a huff, when he was supposed to be watching me. My owners are hoping I just made my escape and still am in Florida. I am a handsome boy at one year old and I am playful. I'm very friendly with humans, never have bitten any, but I may be a little rough on other dogs. This is also something I don't like to tell people, but I have this nervous chewing habit when I'm left alone by myself. I have eaten my owner's expensive camera, blinds, bed, sheets, you name it! Whatever you do, don't leave me alone in a room. I will get into trouble for sure! I also happen to be deaf. I can hear only extremely loud noise but I won't know which direction it comes from.

I've escaped once before, and I was found by Orange Park High School, and taken to Clay County Animal Protection Services in Green Cove Springs. My owner had to spring me out and pay a fine because I didn't wear a tag. I have had all my vaccinations, rabies and all.

Again, my stats are:

Neutered, male, white with spots on my fine coat - I have a spot on one of my eyes, just like the dog in the old tv show Little Rascals. I was wearing a reflective collar, black and gray (the reflective part is gray). My owner was stupid enough to postpone getting me my tag and see what happens! However I do have a microchip, so shelters can scan it for identification purposes... if they do it at all when they are not too overwhelmed with the volume of dogs like me getting in all the time.

I think I am done with my grand adventure and I am ready to go home to my owners. I don't know why, but they love me with all their hearts and I'm sure they are very sad about me being gone. Please help me get back home where I belong!

Albany, NY: American Bulldog Lost

UPDATE: According to Terri, Luna has been found after one week in the cold!
LOST DOG: Luna is a deaf, white (with faint brown specks on her ears and back), American Bulldog who escaped from Shaker Veterinary Clinic on Maxwell Road early Saturday morning (1/2/09 @ 4:30AM). She responds to hand signals, such as patting your knees to mean "come here" and the "OK" signal means good girl and builds her trust in you. If you have any information or have spotted her, please call 518-427-8454 (Ralph) or 956-3995 (Shelley) or 458-9669 (Shaker Vet). She could be anywhere in the Capital Region at this point so we're trying to spread the word as far as it'll reach. Thank you so much for any and all help you can provide us with!

Help Deaf Owner Find Her Lost Deaf Dog in MS!

UPDATE: CLYDE WAS FOUND SAFELY. KEEP YOUR BELOVED PET CLOSE TO YOU.

I get woken up by my brother this am, urging me to post this on my blog and then wished me a happy birthday :) Let's work feverishly in getting words out to your deaf fellows and hearing allies in bringing Clyde back home safely.

To deaf and hearing members of the Deaf community (as well as animal lovers who are not part of the Deaf community) in Mississippi and its neighboring state if where Clyde lives is near the border of another state, please flood as many shelters with a call and email them a picture of Clyde so that whoever drops her off there will not get euthanized. Some Southern states and Midwestern states, animals get euthanized quicker and their usual method is to gas them to death but more quickly when finding out an animal is deaf. Print this flyer and pass around and send via email as well. Read the article with picture and information below:

This is a copy of the flier Helen Margiotta and friends are circulating in hopes of finding Clyde.

Deaf dog needs help to get home
By CREE CANTRELL
SUN HERALD

GULFPORT -- It's hard enough to lose a pet, but Helen Margiotta has a bond with her beagle, Clyde, that transcends the typical pet/person relationship. Both Margiotta and Clyde are deaf.

Margiotta adopted Clyde last winter after a close friend found him abandoned, flea-covered and starving.

Since then Helen and Clyde have developed a special relationship.

"She has even been working to teach Clyde some sign language so the two can better communicate," said friend Laura Lambert of Gulfport, who is helping Margiotta in her search for Clyde.

Margiotta first noticed Clyde was missing from her Perry Street yard on New Year's Eve after leaving the dog outside while she went out to run a few errands.

"Helen never leaves Clyde outside," Lambert said. "Our best guess is that he climbed the fence or possibly that someone let him out of the yard."

Clyde does have a collar, but the tags are not attached. Margiotta and friends have been combing the neighborhood, putting up fliers and checking the animal shelters.

Clyde was last officially seen after his disappearance near his home across from Gulfport High School off Courthouse Road, and a possible sighting was reported in the Hardy Court Shopping Center area.

People who may spot Clyde are urged to remember he is deaf and unable to respond to audible communication such as yelling, clapping or whistling.

If you have any information on Clyde's whereabouts, contact Margiotta, who uses a Telecommunication Device for the Deaf, at 896-4305. The TDD line will ring a number of times and then beep as if reaching a fax line. The incoming telephone number is then sent to Margiotta, and she returns the call through an interpretive operator. Or people with information could contact Lambert at 343-1235.

Sound Off

I am working on behalf of a friend, Helen Margiotta of Gulfport, trying to help her find "Clyde." He somehow escaped her Perry Street yard on the afternoon of New Year's Eve wearing his collar, but unfortunately without his identifying tags. Helen adopted Clyde last year after he was found abandoned in a rural area, emaciated and flea-ridden. Helen took unusually good care of Clyde, working tirelessly teaching him signals because he is stone deaf and misses most of the cues most pets get from humans and their surroundings. She has a special bond and purpose with Clyde also because Helen is also deaf!...
