The Keys, Florida: German Shepherd Needs a Home
FOR ALL QUESTIONS & INQUIRES PLEASE CONTACT LEE AT lmorrison@theflyer.com OR 305 479 9274
Bruno gets along with female dogs, but probably not good to live with males. Even though he lost his hearing, he still is a great watchdog: he feels movement and hears some sound via bones in his ears. (Just try opening the refrigerator if he’s awake!). He is nine years old and as sweet & loveable as ever.
EMAIL UPDATE RECEIVED 1/27/12: A MONTH AGO WE RECEIVED THE SAD NEWS THAT BRUNO WAS LOSING HIS FOREVER HOME....AGAIN.
THERE WAS A SENIOR GENTLEMAN WHO STEPPED UP TO ADOPT BRUNO. HE LOVES BRUNO BUT HE IS TOO FRAIL TO WALK HIM AND HE REALLY NEEDS A SMALLER DOG WHO CAN TAKE WALKS WITH HIM. IT JUST WASN'T A MATCH AND BRUNO CAN'T STAY THERE ANYMORE. PLEASE KEEP POSTING FOR BRUNO, WE NEED TO MOVE HIM RIGHT AWAY. HE IS A WONDERFUL DOG , JUST TOO MUCH DOG FOR AN 81 YO MAN.
12-12-11: FOUR DAYS ONLY AND COUNTING! MUST BE OUT BY THIS WEEKEND!
Poor Bruno has had such a hard life. He was rescued from death row in Miami Dade Animal Services 6 years ago and adopted to a family who checked out perfectly in every way imaginable. We were so excited he’d found his forever home. Instead they starved and neglected Bruno so horribly that he was skin & bones, bleeding from head to foot (he had to be shaved naked to treat his skin wounds) with ear infections so severe his ear canals had to be surgically removed or he’d die from the infection reaching his brain. Bruno thankfully lived, recovered beautifully, but because of their abuse is deaf as a result.
Bruno stayed with his original rescuer for two years more living in her tiny bathroom or/outside because that is all she could provide. He finally found what we again thought was his forever home three years ago with a semi-retired couple who adored him. We were absolutely shocked when they called a month ago to tell us they made the decision to sell their house and were moving in 2-4 months and couldn't take Bruno with them.
Last night they informed us Bruno must be out this weekend! We are sick for poor Bruno and have nowhere for him to go. He is nine years old and as sweet & loveable as ever. He follows his human everywhere – not realizing his loyalty is sadly NOT returned. Bruno gets along with female dogs, but probably not good to live with males. Even though he lost his hearing , he still is a great watchdog: he feels movement and hears some sound via bones in his ears. (Just try opening the refrigerator if he’s awake!) We just can't wrap our heads around the fact that this couple who committed to this beautiful boy and sent nothing but wonderful updates for the past three years, can just put him out to pasture. Where do they think he will go? Their parting words to us about Bruno: " thanks for letting us be part of Bruno's life. Wish things were different and we could keep him".
It doesn't have to be this way. Please don't let Bruno's life end at 9 years old, after so few years of happiness, in a kill shelter. He needs to go to a stable, responsible , committed home where he will spend his golden years with a loving REAL forever family. Call and or email LeeAnn 305 479 9274 OR lmorrison@theflyer.com

Tampa, FL: Cat Wants an Indoor Home
Looking through window from outside
Muddy, a young white deaf kitty, was abandoned in a neighborhood and a lady is currently taking care of him. She has a big dog and cannot bring the cat inside. The cat is deaf and had been declawed and living outside. The woman taking care of him took him to the vet to have him scanned for chip - no chip - and he was tested/vaccinated at the same time. He is a neutered young male, about a year and a half old. Muddy really wants to get inside and be an inside cat.
If anyone is interested in fostering or can give him a home, please contact Olya Grove at olyagrove@gmail.com.

Male – intact; 67 lbs, 15-18 months old; HW negative; Has had DA2PPCCV and Bordatella at the shelter and $15.00 pull fee. Located at Manatee Animal Services.
Has been at the shelter since December 7th and is out of time!
From shelter contact - This dog is an American Bulldog Mix, mainly white with some brown on him. He is laidback. He does bark at things every so often not much though. He loves to play and have belly rubs. He will try to sit in your lap and give kisses. He seems to know hand signals, I am not sure how many. He loves his blankets. Tampa Bay, FL: Lab/Bulldog Mix Needs Rescue by Friday!

I was notified that there is a one year old lab/bulldog mix left behind in the apartment for the roommate to take after by someone who moved out of state. This person have liver problem and cannot walk the dog. She has a friend, who is staying until this Friday before she flies out of country where her home is, help walk the dog.
However, after this Friday, she cannot take care of this dog and needs to look after her own health. Bud doesn't belong to her. The dog weighs about 70 lbs. According to the people where the dog is currently, the dog is friendly and sweet. The only issue is he pulls when on the leash and it's hard to control him. He has a lot of energy where he's not able to steam off and wants to play.
This dog is only 1 year old and I was told he have been to 4 different homes already. I strongly feel he needs to go to a good rescue with a foster home who can work with him and assess him before knowing which home is good/right for him to ensure it's his 5th and last home. Don't let him go to a shelter or be given to just anyone to adopt for the 5th time only to be given up again and again and again.

Please email deafanimals@gmail.com if a reputable rescue can help.

Jacksonville, FL: Pit Bull Lost Since 11/26/10. Help!

It has been a week now that Petey, a deaf pit bull, has been missing. He was adopted from the Animal Control last summer when his time was up. Please crosspost far and wide non stop until Petey is found safely. For information about Petey, check the link on craiglist:
I've escaped once before, and I was found by Orange Park High School, and taken to Clay County Animal Protection Services in Green Cove Springs. My owner had to spring me out and pay a fine because I didn't wear a tag. I have had all my vaccinations, rabies and all.
Again, my stats are:
Neutered, male, white with spots on my fine coat - I have a spot on one of my eyes, just like the dog in the old tv show Little Rascals. I was wearing a reflective collar, black and gray (the reflective part is gray). My owner was stupid enough to postpone getting me my tag and see what happens! However I do have a microchip, so shelters can scan it for identification purposes... if they do it at all when they are not too overwhelmed with the volume of dogs like me getting in all the time.
I think I am done with my grand adventure and I am ready to go home to my owners. I don't know why, but they love me with all their hearts and I'm sure they are very sad about me being gone. Please help me get back home where I belong!
I made my great escape last Friday (Nov 26) at around 3pm. I think it's around this time I made my great escape because a former human roommate left in a huff, when he was supposed to be watching me. My owners are hoping I just made my escape and still am in Florida. I am a handsome boy at one year old and I am playful. I'm very friendly with humans, never have bitten any, but I may be a little rough on other dogs. This is also something I don't like to tell people, but I have this nervous chewing habit when I'm left alone by myself. I have eaten my owner's expensive camera, blinds, bed, sheets, you name it! Whatever you do, don't leave me alone in a room. I will get into trouble for sure! I also happen to be deaf. I can hear only extremely loud noise but I won't know which direction it comes from.

Hawthorne, FL: Cattle Dog Needs a Home or Rescue

Check below for video:
He is a GREAT catch yet is currently being boarded for many months now sadly waiting for a home or a rescue with a foster home to help him! MEET BOB!!!! Bob is about 2 1/2 years old. Fully vaccinated, neutered and on heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. Bob was rescued from a home at the again of 6 months. His owners had just moved into a rented home and they were going to have to take him to the shelter as they were not allowed to have pets at their new place. We found Bob running in and out of the open door to the house and in the surrounding yard among the broken glass from bottles. We took him and have decided to help find him a new home which has taken time as Bob is what is called a special needs dog - he is deaf. But his fun happy energetic personality isn't affected as you can see! He'd LOVE to have a job to do or hey -- do a job WITH YOU LOL! Just needs a home with activity and love! Contact sunkiva@bellsouth.net and /or veronica@fldloglover.com to meet BOB!!
