My name is Cherie; I work as the Adoption Coordinator and Receptionist at an emergency animal hospital located in West Hollywood. I'm just hoping the more people hear about June the better her chances are. So here is Junes story and maybe you could share it and help me help her find a home:

Every once in a while a stray dog or cat in need of veterinary care is abandoned at our office and we are happy to help out. We do our best to find them homes but on occasion it can be very difficult. One such case is a 2 year old Pit-American Bulldog mix. She arrived at the hospital extremely painful: we thought she may have been hit by a car. After x-rays showing no broken bones we treated her to the best of our ability and within days she made what we considered a miraculous recovery. Being very clever, we named her June, as that was the month
she arrived at our doorstep.

Shortly after she arrived we came to the conclusion that she was hearing impaired (almost completely deaf). I am writing to plead for help in finding June a permanent home or even a rescue to take her in. She currently spends up to 22 hours a day in a kennel due to the fact that our hospital lacks the staff and space to spend the much needed time with her.

June is clearly a special needs dog and needs an owner who will help her with the patience and training she needs. June is not dog aggressive but she has met very few dogs and should be considered a caution with other pets until she has been properly socialized. She would likely do best in a home with no other animals until she gets further training.

She is so energetic and gets a bit of cabin fever in her kennel, she loves to play but can be a little rough at times. I am desperate to avoid the hospital management sending her to the shelter so I am reaching out to organizations like yours. It is my deepest wish to find her a place with people who will love her and give her the attention she so much deserves.

This is Dolly, We were coming home from school and saw her cowering on the side of the road, so I parked my car and jumped out and ran across the street and scooped her up. We went straight to the vet to see if she was microchipped but no luck. I had them check her for worms which she has whips and give her shots. They said she is about 10-12 weeks and She is def a pit mix but not sure what she is mixed with. She is as sweet as she can be and as cute as ever. I have 3 dogs and 3 kids and having a 4th dog is alot for me. Can you please crosspost her so I can find her a wonderful forever home. Fort Morgan, CO: Pit Bull Mix Not Do Well in Shelter

Several years ago Denali wandered into someone's back yard. His ears had been cut off in an apparent non-medical attempt at ear cropping. It turns out he was deaf as well. 

Adoption attempts were unsuccessful, but a foster home was found and this eventually turned into a permanent home. Denali was living the good life with other dogs, cats, and a bunny rabbit. He loved to swim in the pool and jump in the morning shower with his new mom.

However, now he is suffering the unexpected tragedies of human life, including a divorce, unemployment, and a home foreclosure. Sadly, Denali must find a new home, and fast.

Denali did suffer some kind of back injury several years ago and had back/spinal surgery. He seems to have healed fine, but he can't hold it indefinitely, though it is possible this could improve with a change of food (I've seen improvements like this before).

Many of the details are foggy right now. I am still trying to gather all the facts, but don’t want to hold up networking him for a few details. I’ll get more info just as soon as I can.

Denali needs a new home, a foster home, or a rescue group to take him. For any or all of these, standard interview, home check, reference checks, and adoption contract will apply. He will not simply be handed over to someone else, no questions asked.

He is a pittie mix, probaby 5 - 7 yrs old., 70+ lbs, neutered. Good with other animals.

Lady was living in a home with a child. Her and the child were playing together, but then she scratched him and the family brought her to the shelter. She is now off hold and ready for her new life! 


A volunteer wrote: Lady is a 7 month old pittie mix who arrived at the shelter on 2/18. Lady was brought to the shelter by her owner, who said she no longer wanted Lady because she had scratched the child in the home. Lady has a beautiful white coat with big brown eyes and a big black nose, she is beyond adorable and reminds me so much of the Coca-Cola polar bears! Lady is quite the social butterfly at the shelter and seems interested in making friends with every person or creature she meets, and this includes her own reflection in glass doorways! Lady seems to have grasped the concept of housebreaking already, as she goes to the bathroom immediately when taken outside, and also can sit down when prompted, but she will still need some basic training like any other puppy. For the past few days I have been at the shelter I have noticed Lady sleeping soundly in her kennel during periods of incredibly loud barking and noise, I finally took her out for a walk today and have confirmed my suspicions that she is in fact deaf. Because of this, Lady will require her puppy training a different and obviously non-verbal form, and will need a forever family willing help her with this. Since Lady is very visually oriented, curious, and loves her treats I'm sure she will pick up hand signals quite quickly. It has in fact been proven that all dogs respond better and learn their commands faster though hand signals rather than verbal commands alone. Having fostered deaf dogs previously, I can tell you that my own hearing dog learned all of hand signal commands just through watching me interact with her deaf foster siblings, and I still sometimes find myself signing to her rather than speaking, as it becomes a habit quite quickly! I would urge anyone looking for a dog to please consider this gorgeous girl despite her "disability," as you would be hard pressed to find another so wiggly and delicious. I really hope there is someone out there who will see Lady not as "special needs" but rather as just "special," because that is exactly what she is! Lady is waiting for you at the Manhattan Shelter!

One-year-old Banks was left in the local dog park. He played with the other dogs in the snow as he awaited our arrival to pick him up.The concerned citizen pointed him out in the park but he was hard to spot because he blended in with the snow banks, hence his new name. Banks is DEAF but responds well to face recognition and some hand signals. He would love a home where he will receive extra training for his disability. He is very sweet and cuddly but does play like a wild man at times and it is hard to get his attention in order to have him chill out.

Shiloh was rescued from Greenville County Animal Shelter where they had told rescuers that she was euthanized twice. The 3rd time she was posted, she was lucky to be pulled from this horrible place. She is a great dog. She can be a little protective of people. She is very smart and really loving. She is house broken and leash trained. She does well in the bath and is okay with children. She knows about three sign language commands that my husband taught her.. He taught her to sit, to hug, and to shake. It is really sweet. She loves to be outside on a zip line and to sleep inside in the bathroom by the potty or a cool corner. She sometime likes to play with other dogs but can be a little over protective. She knows how to open certain things like drawers and cabinets and is very curious. She has been a good dog but she came to us about three months ago and she was sick and dirty and heavily pregnant. She had a hard time learning to ride in a car but does well now. She had one round of dewormer and is ready soon for another round. I am not sure about her shots and she needs to be fixed.

Her name is Tinker and she is a deaf pit bull mix. She has 5 - three week old puppies that will need to stay with her until weaned. Tinker has one blue eye and one brown eye. She is white with a faint tan color and weighs approx. 50 lbs. She is around 4 yrs old. Tinker is extremely sweet and lets her caretakers go in her kennel with her and the babies with no sign of aggression. She is a very gentle and sweet girl. Deaf Pit Bull Mix in TN Seeks Help!

We at East TN Pit Bull Rescue need help for Bella. Months ago there was this sweet little deaf white puppy at the Loudon County shelter. There was a great cry for someone to save her. Well at the last minute when she was still there, Linda went and pulled her out. Bella was so sweet and VERY smart! But we knew pretty quickly that 1) she was going to be a big girl, 2) she needed someone that understood deaf dogs and could train her and 3) we were not that someone! We checked with a deaf dog rescue or two but really just thought that since she was so sweet and smart…someone was just waiting to take her in! Well here we are 6 months later. Bella is still with Linda and has developed a few doggie issues. Although she can be over exuberant and a little rough to hold onto – Bella loves people. The same can not be said for other dogs. She is bossy and can be jealous and aggressive. She has food aggression issues with the other dogs as well as toy issues. Bella’s foster home has way to many adult bully breeds and only one small woman to care for all of them and she has some health issues that require that she cut things back. Bella has to have a place to go that can help her thru her issues and they have to be knowledgeable in training deaf dogs. Bella is vetted, micro chipped, crate trained and trustworthy in the house. She has learned several hand commands. She is NOT safe with the cats! I know I have placed a lot of emphasis on the negative behaviors but I want THE RIGHT commitment for Bella and that can only happen if we tell all of the truth. We think Bella is a Pit/Dane or Doggo mix of some kind. I have added pictures and you can decide for yourself. At 10 months old, she is pushing 60 pounds. If the right group/individual steps up for Bella – they will be getting a fully vetted dog and we will get her to them. If you can help Bella, please contact me.
