A Young Deaf Pit Bull in NJ

To be euthanized on 1/24/10 at 12 pm
Hello. My name is Valerie. I work at the Camden County Animal Shelter in Blackwood, NJ. I am seeking a rescue, adopter, or a foster home for a much needed dog! I am willing to transport her to a rescue willing to take her, too! Here is her bio, feel free to crosspost this! Her pictures are attached!

Meet our beautiful Pit x named Winter. She is a young, sweet deaf girl... only about 1 years old. She is very treat motivated, so training her should be easy, but of course requires patience! She is very smart girl and energetic! She loves to play with toys and run around, however when she's all pooped out, she would love to lay by your side! She loves belly rubs, too! Winter is very friendly with everyone she meets, however we recommend older kids for her since she is a little nippy. She also needs to be the only pet in her new home. She could use some basic leash training, but all in all, she is a loving girl with a great personality! There's still plenty of time to improve on her basic manners and what her boundaries are going to be in her new home. Winter keeps her kennel clean, so she may even be house-trained! Winter is currently at the Camden County Animal Shelter in Blackwood, NJ.

Please let me know if you have any room available to help this wonderful girl by e-mailing me at ValerieP91 @ yahoo.com (without the spaces)!

  18. oh that s sucks!! I cant fathom why people cant deal with deaf dogs is that because it s hard to training on deaf dogs or any deaf pets. For Pete s sake! Valerie, next time you should be thinking in ahead of time to post in a month advance so we have more time to let those people know if they want to adopt. If I own my animals shelter, i would not allowed to put them in sleep unless if she or he is in poor health. I am thankful that I didnt donated any money to this animals shelters. That reminds me of Concentration camps where those innocent people, children and babies send to their death. Valerie, Maybe I should put your pets sleep since I dont like your pets because your pets is not fairly attractive. Do you ever think about this? Just want to expressed my feelings! Animals Lover from Ohio!! (flip the bird to all animals abusers)

  23. Please do not blame Valerie as she is only a volunteer. It is shelters that make ultimate decision on which dog to euthanize first.

We have to be mindful that people who don't work in shelters or do not have anything to do with rescue need to do their part in adopting, fostering or volunteering. Without the public's involvement, shelters and rescues can't do this alone and shelters become overcrowded and rescues become full. Then more animals will have to be put down as there's no place for them.

Where are 4-6 million people out of 300 million in the United States to adopt or foster them before they're killed every year in shelters? Want to be part of the solution, not problem? Be one of 4-6 million folks to save lives or a life!
