Deaf Pit Bull Mix in TN Seeks Help!

PLEASE forward and cross post!

Hello!

We at East TN Pit Bull Rescue need help for Bella. Months ago there was this sweet little deaf white puppy at the Loudon County shelter. There was a great cry for someone to save her. Well at the last minute when she was still there, Linda went and pulled her out. Bella was so sweet and VERY smart! But we knew pretty quickly that 1) she was going to be a big girl, 2) she needed someone that understood deaf dogs and could train her and 3) we were not that someone! We checked with a deaf dog rescue or two but really just thought that since she was so sweet and smart…someone was just waiting to take her in! Well here we are 6 months later. Bella is still with Linda and has developed a few doggie issues. Although she can be over exuberant and a little rough to hold onto – Bella loves people. The same can not be said for other dogs. She is bossy and can be jealous and aggressive. She has food aggression issues with the other dogs as well as toy issues. Bella’s foster home has way to many adult bully breeds and only one small woman to care for all of them and she has some health issues that require that she cut things back. Bella has to have a place to go that can help her thru her issues and they have to be knowledgeable in training deaf dogs. Bella is vetted, micro chipped, crate trained and trustworthy in the house. She has learned several hand commands. She is NOT safe with the cats! I know I have placed a lot of emphasis on the negative behaviors but I want THE RIGHT commitment for Bella and that can only happen if we tell all of the truth. We think Bella is a Pit/Dane or Doggo mix of some kind. I have added pictures and you can decide for yourself. At 10 months old, she is pushing 60 pounds. If the right group/individual steps up for Bella – they will be getting a fully vetted dog and we will get her to them. If you can help Bella, please contact me.

Thank you!

Deaf Heeler Pup in TN

Could anyone help rescue Isabella? She is a four-month-old Australian Cattle Dog and is deaf.

Isabella is such a happy dog! She has wonderful manners, walks well on a leash, and loves to run and play in the shelter yard. Isabella is very affectionate and will bat her paw for attention. She also stands up on her back legs to be hugged. Isabella has a great time every day, palying with one of our other shelter dogs. It is such fun to see them bound about in total joy. She loves people of all ages, too. Isabella has been given her distemper/parvo and Bordatella vaccinations and been wormed. Prior to leaving Animal Control, she will be spayed, microchipped and given a rabies vaccination.

Please crosspost on behalf of this special dog and e-mail me at kmenzyk @ yahoo.com (email without spaces) if you can help. Her PULL FEE WILL BE PAID!

Happy Ending for the Lost Deaf Dog, Luna!

On January 4th, it was posted here about Luna -- a deaf dog -- who escaped from the vet clinic and was lost. A plea was sent out to bring Luna home. Fortunately for Luna, she was found after one week in the freezing weather the Upstate is known for. Luna was on the news: Click here and here

Click here if you want to read about how Luna's owner wouldn't give up on finding Luna. He truly cares about his fur-member as well as the community involved in searching for her.

A Young Deaf Pit Bull in NJ

To be euthanized on 1/24/10 at 12 pm
Hello. My name is Valerie. I work at the Camden County Animal Shelter in Blackwood, NJ. I am seeking a rescue, adopter, or a foster home for a much needed dog! I am willing to transport her to a rescue willing to take her, too! Here is her bio, feel free to crosspost this! Her pictures are attached!

Meet our beautiful Pit x named Winter. She is a young, sweet deaf girl... only about 1 years old. She is very treat motivated, so training her should be easy, but of course requires patience! She is very smart girl and energetic! She loves to play with toys and run around, however when she's all pooped out, she would love to lay by your side! She loves belly rubs, too! Winter is very friendly with everyone she meets, however we recommend older kids for her since she is a little nippy. She also needs to be the only pet in her new home. She could use some basic leash training, but all in all, she is a loving girl with a great personality! There's still plenty of time to improve on her basic manners and what her boundaries are going to be in her new home. Winter keeps her kennel clean, so she may even be house-trained! Winter is currently at the Camden County Animal Shelter in Blackwood, NJ.

Please let me know if you have any room available to help this wonderful girl by e-mailing me at ValerieP91 @ yahoo.com (without the spaces)!

Manhattan, NY: Pit Bull Pup Might Need Help

Bam Bam was spotted by New Hope Department and is at NYC Animal Care and Control (ACC). If you can help, call 1-212-722-4939 or send email to Jess, Lisa, Kim or Emily at jvanbrunt@nycacc.org, ksmyth@nycacc.org, etanen@nycacc.org and lsheard@nycacc.org.

BAMBAM – A843438 – 6 month old male DEAF pittie – 35lbs – OS, starting a new job
Owner is trying to get Bambam back…

A Volunteer Wrote: Bambam is like Valentine's Day candy--he's so sweet he makes our teeth hurt. He loves cats, dogs, and everyone he meets. And his gentle, joyful curiousity! When this 6 month old, 35 pound dog--who our behaviorists gave a high score of mild-expressed interest in my glove, I gave it to him only to have him hold it tenderly and then give it back to me. This dog is so cute that a big, macho dude passing us on the street actually giggled at him. Not laughed--giggled. He has an extraordinary ability for the extraordinary: He somehow innately knew to stop when I stopped, and to walk right by my leg, keeping up pace. I say "extraordinary" because according to his former owner, he is trained to go on a wee-wee pad rather than housebroken yet. But here is the most extraordinary thing of all: This heart-achingly bundle of goodness is deaf. It's something I was unaware of during our time together, that's how well he gets on in the world. He will make a joyful, joyful addition to anyone's life, and any family (or single person!) would not believe their luck in waking up every morning to such goodness.

Deaf French Bull Dog in TX Needs a Home

Lia is a deaf 5 1/2 year old female french bulldog. She was surrender to French Bull Dog Rescue Network (FBRN) in September 2009 by a BYB (Backyard Breeder). After receiving medical attention and much needed love & care she became an adoptable frenchie through FBRN this past November. She lives in Austin, TX with my resident frenchie, Cooper and resident "big dog" Brody. Here is a link to her bio on FBRNs website: Click here. The bio gives a lot of additional information about her past, where is she is presently at and what her future should hold! You will also find the link to apply for her through FBRNs website: Click here.

People from anywhere in the country may apply for the dogs you see on the website. I hope to find a family/person who sees her deafness not as a limitation but as an opportunity to learn a new form of communication and to also be reminded about the little things in life that are often overlooked- how a smile can replace a thousand unnecessary words or the importance of stopping to smell the roses! Lia has a beautiful soul and now my job is to help her find a forever home where she can continue to live the life that has been meant for her all along. Any questions, send an email to Chelsa: iheartfrenchies @ ymail.com

Temp Foster Needed in Southern CA

Elisa,

Can you please help me put the word out that I need to find a home for Dottie, Roxy (2 great dogs), Smoke and Sasha (2 amazing cats). The economy has kicked me in the tuckas so Chelsea and I have to relocate quickly and can not take them with us. I need a place for them for at least a month maybe two. So if you know of someone who could foster them for me that would be great. Even if it's only for a few weeks that would help. I will provide food and can pay someone a little bit, but not much. If they are close by (in the LA area) I can also come over and take the dogs for walks or to the dog park.

Now, a little about the loves of my life......

Dottie is an amazing Dalmatian, not the typical hyper-frenitic type, but a sweet, loving, mellow soul. She'll protect you and love you, but the best thing about her is her smile. Once you see it you'll be hooked. She's 8 years old and beautiful.

Roxy is truly the best that a dog can be. She has more love and kindness in her than any dog that I've ever come across. She's a Golden Lab mix with an enormous heart of gold. Although she is deaf, she doesn't require any additional work (other than making sure that she doesn't get out because she won't hear cars coming or the sound of your voice calling her back). She's really good with hand signals and learns new commands quickly. She is 7 years old and a true jewel.

Both dogs are good with children, other dogs and have lived with cats their entire lives. I can't tell you how many times I've woken up to 2 dogs and 2 cats sleeping in my bed with me!! I'll miss that.

In an ideal world, I'd love to find someone who can take both of the dogs because they have been together forever and Dottie has been Roxy's "ears". I know that this might be an impossible task so I'm realize that I may have to split them up. As long as they're in a loving home they will both be fine. They are both fixed and microchipped.

Smoke is a long haired grey tabby. He's the only boy of the bunch, but he's 14 years old so his "catting around" days are behind him. Lately he's become very cuddly. Sasha is a white short haired tabby and is as sweet as can be. She loves to get love and give love.

Both cats are fixed, and Sasha is microchipped. They love to be outside so if I can find a place that allows for that, they'll be in heaven. They have also been raised around dogs and kids and they're okay with both.

I really appreciate your help. Thank you, thank you , thank you.

Albany, NY: American Bulldog Lost

UPDATE: According to Terri, Luna has been found after one week in the cold!
LOST DOG: Luna is a deaf, white (with faint brown specks on her ears and back), American Bulldog who escaped from Shaker Veterinary Clinic on Maxwell Road early Saturday morning (1/2/09 @ 4:30AM). She responds to hand signals, such as patting your knees to mean "come here" and the "OK" signal means good girl and builds her trust in you. If you have any information or have spotted her, please call 518-427-8454 (Ralph) or 956-3995 (Shelley) or 458-9669 (Shaker Vet). She could be anywhere in the Capital Region at this point so we're trying to spread the word as far as it'll reach. Thank you so much for any and all help you can provide us with!
