Deaf Pit Bull

Blind Pit Bull

The spotted one is deaf; the other one is blind. The little deaf one is sweet and playful and was a turned in pet due to being deaf. One that is blind can get around really well and the is so sweet and loveable. Both dogs are so deserving to be saved. The shelter is Animal Services of Maury County. World Tallest Dog is Deaf and Blind!

Titan, a Great Dane named the world's tallest dog, with his owner Diana Taylor in San Diego.

Titan, the Deaf and Blind Great Dane made it in the Guiness Book of World Records.
It is nice a deaf dog gets this worldwide recognizance. Especially so when sign language, which is appreciated, cherished and valued by many in the Deaf community, is used to communicate with a deaf dog. And it is said that later on when Titan lost some vision, tactile was used as a form of communication. Titan not only lives with his human mom but also another Deaf Great Dane and a hearing German Shepherd. What is even wonderful is that Titan was adopted from, where you go to find adoptable pets that are found at shelters and rescue groups across the country. Go to Titan's Website

Here are several articles about Titan:

Human Mom Shares about her World's Tallest Dog, Titan

Coweta, GA: Dalmatian Has Until 12/30/09

Can you post this guy around??? He is deaf and will be killed on Dec. 30. If you can help call Kaye at 678-575-3062 or email me at

  • Breed: Dalmatian
  • Sex: Male
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Medium
  • ID: 0012976 Coweta AC

PLEASE CONTACT COWETA COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL TO ADOPT THIS PET: 770-254-3735. The address is 91 Selt Road, Newnan, GA. This very handsome fella and his companion (female dalmatian in I-6) were brought into the shelter because they were too rough with a yorkie. Therefore, he may not do well with small animals. This fella is a L-O-V-E!!!! When we had him out to get to know him.......he stole our hearts...lock, stock and barrell!

He was shaking like a leaf and very scared......especially since he is deaf and is in a strange place with strange people. While we were standing around him he started to whine pitifully and shake from head to toe. We realized that he was getting very nervous because we were standing around and behind him and he wanted to see our hands and faces as that is his main way of communication by not being able to hear our voices or other sounds. When we moved in front of him and he was able to see us, he calmed down immediately. Just take a look at his precious face and video. not let his life end at animal control. Can you open your heart and home? PLEASE HURRY! This sweetie has been in the shelter since 12/17/09 and will be available for adoption, rescue or can be euthanized 12/29/09! NOTE: CCAC CANNOT ADOPT ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE. ADOPTIONS MUST BE DONE IN PERSON.

American Bulldog/Boxer Mix in AL

This deaf female American bulldog/boxer mix was recently surrendered to our shelter in Auburn, AL. The owner had to give her up because her daughter, granddaughter, and mother all had to move in with her, and there was no roomfor this girl. Probably a situation where they're trying to save money in this terrible economy. She is about 3 years old, sweet-natured and has been trained with visual signals to obey commands such as "sit," "down," etc. HW status is unknown, but we can test her and vaccinate for parvo, bordatella and distemper. We can spay
her, too, though it may have to be after the holidays. She is at Lee County Shelter in Auburn. The shelter phone number is 334-821-3222 or contact Karen at

Please Help This Deaf/Blind Catahloula in Louisana!

This is Beowulf. He is looking for a last chance rescue. Due to extreme circumstances, he cannot stay in his foster home any more. He has no place to go but to animal control and he will certainly be euthanized if he ends up there. His options have run out and we are looking for any rescue that will consider taking him. He has been fully vetted and neutered, and we will raise money for transportation.

Beowulf is a blind and deaf Catahoula. He has been at this foster home since he was 4 months old. Now he is 7 months old. He is fully vetted, neutered, has all shots and has been on heartworm protection his whole life. He is crate trained, very sweet. He is in Louisiana but we can transport anywhere. Beowulf is running out of time.

If you can help Beowulf, please send an email to

Deaf Husky Mix Pup in Louisana Needs Out!

Does anyone know of a "deaf" dog rescue around? The p/b husky puppy shown below was turned in to the Pt Coupee shelter by its owners because they said it acted "funny". They didnt realize it was deaf but had no idea how to raise a deaf dog, so they opted to leave it at the shelter. The puppy is 3-4 months old I think.....anyway if anyone can help or has information on a rescue please let me know.

Deaf Senior Beagle in NC is Sad

Hey All,

If anyone knows anyone that would be willing to take a 16 year old Beagle, Homer, that is VERY over weight and mostly deaf please let me know. I have a client that has a 1 year old and Homer has snapped at her a few times now and showing a lot of aggression towards the baby. She has tried gating him, putting him in a different room, etc.....he then becomes destructive. He has always had full reign of their home, she said it's just getting worse and she can't handle it anymore.

She has contacted all the shelters and rescue groups within 3 hours of Raleigh, has sent tons of emails and begging for someone to take him and has no luck yet........if no home is found she is putting Homer to sleep, she had an appointment for that today but cancelled it and everyone is trying to help her find a home for him by Friday. I know it's a tough decision and sad and I am not happy hearing about it but she feels she has no choice, her child comes 1st, etc......

She wants the dog to be happy and go to a good home, but needs a home ASAP. Please spread the word you may have already heard about poor Homer, again, it's so sad!!!!

Happy Holidays to All!

Deaf Senior Dog in WVA Needs a Chance!

P.S. Crossposter sent email without checking the site above thoroughly that this dog has been rescued back in November.

This poor, sweet, senior girl was picked up as a stray. She is deaf and nearly blind. She had a terrible flea infestation and couldn't stop scratching. Plus, she had an eye infection that had gone untreated. We are treating her eye infection and she looks better already. We also treated her fleas and trimmed her nails that were so long they were curling under. She is feeling much better now. This girl is very old and we know the odds of finding a home willing to take a senior are slim to none. Nevertheless, she has a soft blanket to sleep on and we have done all we can to make her comfortable in her final days.

B-2 is approx. 10+ years old and weighs around 20 lbs.

3 Deaf Dogs in Philadelphia Need Saving

Kirby (a0901165)

6-9 month old pure white male pit mix that is hearing impaired and stick in a high volume shelter! Little Kirby is playful and sweet and needs a home that understands the needs of hearing impaired dogs and is able to train him to be confident and well socialized. Kirby has no resource guarding issues and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs!

Elmo (09189255)-URGENT

Elmo is a 15 year old beagle that needs to leave ASAP. This old boy was surrendered by family members that took him in after his owner died. He started having seizures after his owner passed and the family that took him in no longer want to care for him. This poor boy is also deaf. Elmo needs another chance! He walks like a dream on the leash, he prances with not a care in the world. He seems to be housebroken and loves to be outside where he can lay in the sun and sniff around.

Dessy (A07301765)

Super sweet, hearing impaired gal that is looking for her permanent home. Dessy came into the ACCT shelter as a stray on March 10, where she was quickly put into foster care. Dessy is not only looking for a home that understands the needs of deaf dogs and can help her flourish, but also one that is active and FUN! She loves to play! Dessy is good with most other dogs (she can however be a bit overwhelming to less energetic or dominant dogs) and can entertain herself as well. Dessy is very people oriented and enjoys time on the couch as well. Dessy's favorite activities:
-swim and splash (mostly splash) in the kiddie pool -skateboarding or jogging -outdoor festivals, she's been to a few and has been great! She is always making fast friends.
-and of course that most traditional game of fetch, she loves it so much, its sometimes adorably goofy.

Dessy would benefit greatly towards her success at being a perfect house dog from nice walks and is learning to walk quite well on leash, she is also great in the car and enjoys sticking her head out the window to sniff the wind!

As much as Dessy loves to play she is also a wonderful snuggler, and can be quite lovey-dovey. Dessy is already spayed and microchipped and is ready to be adopted into her home.

She is about 1-2 years old and is crate trained and is well on her way to understanding house breaking.
