Reseda, CA: 2 Boxers Go to Shelter 7/24

Today is July 22, 2010. These 2 deaf dogs have been living in the backyard of a foreclosed home since July 10th. Lola and Chaos have no more than a week to find a rescuer, foster, or adopter. Otherwise, they will be taken to a high kill shelter.

Lola and Chaos are both 3 year old deaf female Boxers. They are littermates but Chaos is like a "mama" for Lola who is a little shy and insecure. The owner's husband died of cancer leaving her with 6 children and in a bad place financially as all the $ was spent for his care. She lost her husband, her home, and she does not want her dogs to end up at the shelter. But all the rescues are full... she's hit a dead end. Can you help her by rescuing, fostering, adopting, donating towards the dogs, or networking?

When I entered their "territory" (backyard), they attacked me with slobbery kisses and happy tails. They are very friendly, sweet, lovebugs with irresistible mugs. Don't worry about the little Chihuahua mix... the family can have a dog under 25 lbs in their new apartment so he is not in danger. They were raised with children, love to play with tennis balls, and very bonded to each other. They would love to be rescued together, but they can be placed separately with a wonderful family. Please help network these wonderful girls. If you are able to rescue, foster, or adopt please e-mail missmatsui@aol.com. The owner will sign a relinquishment form. If you are able to make a pledge towards their care (spay, vaccinations, training, boarding, food, etc.) please e-mail missmatsui@aol.com with your pledged amount. Thank you so much.

Washington, DC: Deaf Cat Needs a Home

Woodley has orange stripes and a lion's face. He is a deaf cat who is very laid back and extremely funny. He is also loving, affectionate and loves curling up in laps and next to you at nap time. He is about 4 years old, very social and great with other cats and children. He has been wonderful and patient with our 2 1/2 year old daughter since she was born, enduring much solicited and unsolicited affection. He sometimes thinks he's a person and likes to sit in a chair at the table and also joins the stuffed animals at our daughter's tea parties. We sometimes have dance parties after dinner and Woodley always joins in by laying in front of the ipod speakers to feel the vibrations. He is an indoor cat but could spend time outdoors in the right, safe location (he thrives on his limited "hunting" time in our fenced back yard). If you are interested in providing a happy, loving home for Woodley, please contact Ashley Gibbs at (removed).

CALL THE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN THIS ANIMAL. INSIST THAT THEY MAKE NOTE OF YOUR RESCUE NAME/NUMBER. DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU THAT THE ANIMAL "ALREADY HAS A HOLD ON IT." THAT HOLD MIGHT BE A KIND VOLUNTEER WHO IS JUST TRYING TO SAVE THE ANIMAL UNTIL A RESCUE CAN STEP UP FOR IT. ANIMALS HAVE DIED BECAUSE THE SHELTER WAS UNAWARE THAT THERE WAS INTEREST FROM A RESCUE. PLEASE DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN. THANK YOU.

NY, NY: Cat Needs a Home

ONDINE is a beautiful deaf white cat with one blue and one gold eye. She is happy, sweet, affectionate and a lovebug. Given back to the shelter at 5 years old because of her master’s allergies. She is a lovely kitty and deserves better. She’s having a great time at her foster home, coming to yoga classes there and getting into the swing of things. But she needs her own furrever home! Ondine is spayed, has had all her shots, and is negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV.
