I live on 1.3 acres, and she always stayed close by, but was sooo content, I could never take the outdoors away from her. I did worry about other animals, but I know how much she relied on her other senses, and felt that was the trade-off. She ended up dying in a freak accident in the garage, good luck
JulieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14567892976078824.post-40074752321932775152010-08-19T23:21:01.597-04:002010-08-19T23:21:01.597-04:00That's a great advices which are nice to have ...That's a great advices which are nice to have options better than none.

Has Edgar been fixed that'll help him mellow out and reduced spray during anxiety moment?

Glad Edgar is content and happy be outside stayed close by..great news.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14567892976078824.post-39088796812949952662010-08-19T22:46:28.710-04:002010-08-19T22:46:28.710-04:00Thank you all so much for your input and advice. ...Thank you all so much for your input and advice. It has been 2 days since we started letting him outside on his own. We were very nervous at first that he would get lost or hurt. However, he HAS been staying close by, which was a pleasant surprise, and was much more content when he came back inside. We are happier, and he is MUCH happier, which was the whole point all along.

If we can maintain this new pattern, we may just be able to make it work. However, we are still open to a placement where he would truly be free if that situation presents itself. Bottom line is that we want Edgar to be happy and safe.

God bless you all for your thoughts and support.

RachelAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14567892976078824.post-33558028824171347692010-08-19T16:51:29.220-04:002010-08-19T16:51:29.220-04:00Hi DCP and Deanie:

She said she tried letting Edgar out and to her surprise, he only stayed nearby for a couple of hours before coming in and he was content. I am sure she will keep all of what you said in mind if she ends up keeping him.

For anyone who wants to keep their cat safe while letting them enjoy outdoor, here's the links of different ways:

http://www.thecatandkittenstore.com/servlet/the-959/kittywalk,outdoor-cat-furniture,outdoor-safety/Detail

http://www.catfencein.com/

http://www.purrfectfence.com/

http://hubpages.com/hub/Outdoor-Cat-PensKatherinenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14567892976078824.post-166119024976626832010-08-19T10:07:27.083-04:002010-08-19T10:07:27.083-04:00There are easy ways to have a cat enjoy the outdoo...There are easy ways to have a cat enjoy the outdoors safely. You can set up a cat enclosure in your yard. You can also take him out on a leash and harness. I have a cat who walks 2-3 times a day on leash. He gets his outdoor time which makes him happy and he remains safe at the same time.Deanienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14567892976078824.post-27199563005846067772010-08-19T09:22:24.196-04:002010-08-19T09:22:24.196-04:00Do you have a cage for him to be in while he is ou...Do you have a cage for him to be in while he is outside? I mean a big cage where he can run or walk. I used to have a long cage for one of my cats who used to be an outside cat before I got him, and he loved it. He preferred being in the house for the night and for some parts of the day, but being outside for an hour or two was enough for him. Or maybe you can put a leash on your cat and snap it to the clothes line for him to run across the yard.Deaf Crochet Poetesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12865053451526275959noreply@blogger.com
